With not a whole lot of time to ponder I´ve been asked to come up with a harmonica instrumental, to be played by me with a band tomorrow.
It´s not a concert, just a rehearsal for an upcoming gig, but still, it will be appreciated if I can show them something.

And NOT a blues tune, per my own preference. (That´s what the future audience expects from a harmonica player and I´d like to evade that.) It can be bluesy, sure, but not an LW instrumental etc.

A pop song of sorts, recognisable, with a strong melody, and not too complicated -- the band ain´t terribly advanced.

So far my own best suggestion is "Nights in white satin", the somewhat stately Moody Blues tune, but it sits reasonably well on the harp. Still, I´m not wholly convinced ...

Can anyone top this?

Fleetwood Mac's Albatross is a good one. I played it at a gig recently and it went down well.

Excellent call, Grey Owl. Also simple, two chords!
I have played it for fun every now and then. Believe Paul Jones did it on some Peter Green tribute many years ago.
Can be tough to make it sound right but I´ll certainly give it a try.
Many thanks.
