I have wanted to post this song for a long time, but it was unavailable. It is from the debut album "All Points Connect" of a jam band called 56 Hope Road. I recorded on 3 cuts, but really enjoyed this acoustic harp song, "Howard".

I will try to restrain myself from posting more of my music for a while. I don't want to overdo the posting, but I was excited that this is now on YouTube.

Great job Doug! Really enjoyed it! Why refrain from posting. I enjoy hearing the work of those from this site I know personally! You really find a good groove here. That is one of the things I notice about your playing when we jam in the evenings at Harmonicollege in WVA. it not just notes or riffs, you are totally part of the music!

Yes, I think some of the band were fans.

Thanks, KC!

Thanks, Diggs!

Here are the other two cuts:

I recorded these in 2001, with the album being released in 2002, I think.

Of course I would make changes and do some things differently if I were recording them now. I have learned quite a bit more about harp since then. I think that Howard is my favorite of the three recordings I played on, though the electric guitar work on Future Sons by a local studio musician, Brian Wilkie, always impresses me. He is now based in Chicago, I think. He played pedal steel in addition to electric guitar on some of the non harp songs on the album.

Greg Fundis, the band member who did the percussion is a powerhouse, too. His rhythms drive the music, and at times were challenging. This was all recorded at the studio with me playing as I listened on headphones. No visual cues as to stops and changes.

The band 56 Hope Road went on to write a lot more songs, toured quite a bit on the jam band circuit, and generated several more albums. This studio work on the first CD was my only involvement.

Doug,

I'm thinking a soulful Blues Traveler with a dash of Magic Dick.

" A dash of Magic Dick"

Sounds like a Showtime after hours movie title
