Yesterday marked the 5th anniversary of the sale of my very first harmonica comb. It was a laser cut Cherry Golden Melody comb. At that time I was doing business on eBay as Florida-Trader (hence the florida-trader handle here on MBH) and did not yet have a website. I really had no idea whether or not the comb business would take off but I sort of backed myself into a corner. I had made the “mistake” of getting 175 combs made in my first batch, so I put myself in a position of having to sell them or just throw away all the money I had spent to make them. I was amazed by the warm reception of the harmonica community and still am to this day. After about 9 months I changed the name of the company and Blue Moon Harmonicas LLC was born. The members of this forum have been strong supporters of Blue Moon and I thank all of you for that. Your support has encouraged and inspired me. 2015 was a record year for Blue Moon. I have been so busy that it has forced me to make some significant changes which I believe will prove to be very positive as we continue to grow and evolve. 2016 is going to be a great year. I will be introducing some exciting new products that have been in development for several months. The longer I am in this business the more opportunity I see. I’m looking forward to the future. Thank you again for your friendship and your support and I hope you have a safe and Happy New Year. ---------- Tom Halchak www.BlueMoonHarmonicas.com
I'm just about to get my first blue moon comb...I thought...but then as I wrote that I realised you make them for Joe so I actually have a couple already...I'm about to get a wooden one which is installed on a golden melody...must say, the combs on my Spiers customs are perfect. I generally buy my combs elsewhere just because the exchange rate and post make it too expensive now to do business with USA if there is an alternative, but I appreciate your role in the harp business Tom. I've never heard anything but good spoken about what you do.
My first harp mod from Tom came in just a few hours ago. My wife sent my only SP20 to Tom to install an acrylic comb, gap and tune the harp (she thinks I'll sound better if the harp is in tune) all as a Christmas present for me.
The harp looks great, feels great and sounds great. I had to let it warm up for a while as it's so F'n (That stand's for Fahrenheit for those of you across the pond) cold here in Maine today.
Thanks for your skill and care, Tom
