Alternative tunings arn´t a subject I´m really versed in, partly because I´m conservative by nature, and partly because I´m clumsier than a m/f and can´t afford to mess up a functioning harmonica. But I´ve been thinking about this variant that I´ve seen somewhere, right now having a few cheap C harps lying around me: 6D one hole step up, 7D one and a half step up, giving, in C a B in 6D and a D in 7D.
For second pos playing this would appear to introduce some advantages -- but I´m sure there are lots of drawbacks.
Anyone tried it?

Haven't tried it, but I just sketched it out-- Advantage is, obviously, the big bend on 6 and a nice one on 7. 8, 9, and 10 are unchanged--if you raised them some, you could get draw bends there too, which might resemble Power Draw (another one I haven't tried). The main drawback I see is the unison on 7 & 8 draw--not a big deal. You'll probably have to swap the reeds to do it, I can't see raising the pitch by filing the tip, not enough material.

A step and a half is ALOT. The extra bends would be cool, but what exactly are you trying to accomplish? Or are you just experimenting? Most tunings have a logical reason behind them.
Good point Gnarly. Doubt there is enough metal to raise it that much. Would it work to add some weight to the rivet end as well as shave the tip? I think it would just even itself out. And you would end up back where u started. ---------- 1.21 JigaWatts N' Punch It To 88

Thanks guys.
@Gnarly: Swapping the reeds kills it for me. Too much hassle. I imagined that you could push up both reeds to the new levels, and am grateful to you for pointing it out. Saves me a harmonica ...
@Killa: The benefits would be quite apparent, I think -- if we stick to 2 pos. Bendability on III and V, which would make the third octave more approachable. (I have no trouble overblowing, but I cannot set up my harps for OD´s, so 8D is still kinda mute.)
The doubling of 7D and 8D could be an interesting effect ...
I dimly recollect that I´ve seen this tuning referred to as "Joe Filisko Blues Tuning".
