Just curious if anyone else noticed this, but last year it seemed that there were wicked good, holiday sale prices on Hohner and Suzuki sets. I recall a couple of days where Amazon had 5-packs of Marine Bands and Special 20s for $99. I think there were some good sales on Promasters and Manjis too.
This year it seems the prices for the same sets have increased pretty dramatically, rather than decreased, for the holidays (around $165 and up for the Hohners). Did I miss something, or are harp prices in general higher this year?
Then again, maybe last year Hohner dropped prices just to boost the launch of the whole "Progressive" line.
Hey... I'm a bargain hunter; what can i say?

In the US and Canada, Hohner is presently having some supply issues.... I'm not clear on the details, something about moving the warehouse.

I hear ya. Ive been lookin for deals since the week before black friday. I figured maybe a Cyber Monday Harp Blowout EXTRAVAGANZA!!! might show up. And Nothin!!! ..... WTF?!? ... lol. Maybe try some new models out if i could find em on the cheap. I been wantin a Rocket and a seydel soloist. Maybe next year?

Yeah . . . I've been holding off on getting a few different keys, thinking a good deal might pop up . . . but reckon I'll wait a bit longer.
Maybe there will be an "after Christmas Blow-out" (though I'm not going to put any bets on that)

Hohner moved to Nashville. I don't know if it is still going, it was yesterday, but Amazon has 20% off music items.
I can't remember the code, but it was on the bottom of the listings. You could google it. Guitar Center and Musician's Friend have 20% orders more than $99 too.
I am pretty sure today is the last day of that offer, though.

I have a large order for harps with Hohner (or more precisely, KHS America) pending. Indeed they are in the process of relocating their warehouse from Richmond, VA to Nashville, TN. When I placed my order in mid November I was told that due to the move nothing would be shipped until the beginning of December. Well, here it is the 18th and nothing has been shipped. In fact, I spoke with my sales rep yesterday and he expressed some measure of shock that my order has not been shipped yet. He promised to give it some attention so perhaps we will see some movement. I'm not desperate for harps at this point but I would like to replenish my stock.
Big moves of this nature inevitably take longer than planned. There is no doubt that KHS made this move at the worst possible time. I'm sure there are a lot of music stores around the country that are a lot more upset than I am. I am also sure that the orders that are being shipped are going out to the big retailers first and to guys like me second (or third or fourth).
And so, supply and demand being what it is, Hohners are in short supply this holiday season and demand, as always, is up, therefore there is no reason to offer big discounts. I can't speak for the other brands. Suzuki ships my stuff right away whenever I order.
