If you haven’t got video editing software, youtube has got some interesting post uploading features to change the look of your video.
They are to be found by going into edit mode on your uploaded video and clicking on Enhancements.
Here you will find
a) A trim feature where you can trim a bit off the beginning or end of the vid. This is very useful to get rid of those unwanted bits where you are messing around trying to start or turn off your video recording. Simply click on ‘trim’ and click and drag the blue strip on the left to a point beyond the start of the vid where you want the new start. (or drag the right blue strip for trimming the end) Then click on done when you’re happy with the edit. If it didn’t turn out quite right just click on revert to original or SAVE if it’s OK.
As an alternative you can also click ‘Save as new video’, which will make a copy of the original but with your new changes. Then you can delete the original if you want.
Alongside the Trim feature are rotate the video left or right (handy when the orientation of your video is wrong)
There are also options to change the appearance
Auto Fix to auto adjust colour and contrast Stabilise to help smooth out jerky videos Filters to apply a variety of effects eg change the video to Sepia, black and white, Thermal etc., Also manual adjust of Contrast, Fill Light, Saturation and Colour temperature Slow motion and time lapse stuff .
If you want to try it out it maybe a good idea at the outset to upload a video to youtube as a trial. But set it onto to private or unlisted rather than public so the public cannot see it at this stage, then make your adjustments as above and when you’re happy with it change it back to ‘public’ for all to see. (you will notice there have been a number of views of your video but these are your own views when you are modifying the video.
If you click on ANNOTATIONS rather than enhancements you can place a TITLE on your video with control over the text size colour etc and drag it to a position you like on the video i.e top or bottom etc., (you can also drag the title box on the timeline below the video to make the title last for a certain amount of time.,
Select NOTES to add a note on the vid. You can even use this feature to add a tab of what you are playing. You can add a link to the note you have written by ticking ‘link’ where a box will appear prompting you to input a url of another web address. For example if you want to a note you have written to link to your youtube channel then get the url of your youtube channel and place it in that box then the note you have written appearing on your video could be something like ‘Click here for my youtube channel’
When you want to put the embed code on MBH so others can view your video just right click on your youtube vid and select copy embed code then go to your new post your composing on MBH and right click and select ‘paste’
When your posting a LINK to a video you want someone to check out but the harp bit is say 2 minutes in then go to that point on the video and hit pause then right click on the video and select ‘Copy video url at current time’ You can then paste this url into the LINK to the video in your post and viewers will see the vid start at the 2 minute mark. NB you will have to know how to place a link in your post first. I don’t believe there is an embed solution for this to have the video actually showing in your post and starting from the 2 minute mark.
Here is an example of the 'go to'
First the whole vid by JJ Milteau embedded
Next the click on the link to fast part of the solo roughly 1 min 45 secs in
EDIT to say the experience was lessened though it still works fine, by an annoying pre vid ad that appeared (which you can skip) before it jumped to the fast bit.
