Hi guys. I have just been given a seydel big six as an early Christmas gift! It's very impressive for the size with a nice tone, solid construction etc. What I was curious about is how similar is it in reality to the classic 1847? Is it identical other than a few holes less? Or is there more to it? Thanks

To my understanding, they are all short slot reeds, though Greg Jones should be able to verify that. ----------

Yes they are like slots 3 to 8 of an 1847. So on the C harp it's like the 1 blow reed is 3 blow from a lowF 1847. Quite nice harps in their way.

Ok... So in their basic construction and size (other than the obvious difference in length) they are the same? Just asking as I have enjoyed playing it, so may get an 1847 at some point off the back of it.

yes, feels like a cut down 1847, plays like holes 3 - 8 except tuned like holes 1 - 6

I have a couple. I had Greg get me a wood comb for an "A" harp. Love it! Just not into the plastic combs on these small harps. Of course you can by a stock "C" harp with a wood comb. I have a couple small carabineers and I attach them to a belt loop. ---------- And I Thank You !! KCz Backwoodz Bluz

Yeah, I was given the stock c with the wooden comb. It plays beautifully. Such easy and strong hand effects as its so small!
