my goodness gracious-- a lot of us are boring 30 second into an ACapella harp solo, not JR--he's got that Pat Ramsey draw 4 then bend draw and and trill to draw 5 thing down, its a great trill---he really did learn a lot from him--some people are so good it makes u wanna give up-- [BUT WAIT, THEN YOU HEAR A DELUSIONAL HARP PLAYER AT A JAM AND YOU REALIZE 'IM NOT THAT BAD]--Just Kidding --I don't like being negative-- sorry for the slam -
I have to be honest when JR plays amped up it's like Joe Satriani playing blues...well the uptempo parts. Just too much blues-rock rather than blues for my taste.

What Jason does here is what Jason does best, finding the groove, defining, pounding it left and right, mining the low notes for the dark, resonating shades of deeper register tonality, rolling and bending and sliding within that groove, slowing and accelerating his tempo, filling the gaps and leaving breathing room, punching holes through old walls and constructing new rooms with new materials, always based on blues fundementals. What he does isn't too everyone's taste, but Mooncat is a modern master and someone who is the same position as Butterfield was decades ago, an influence, a touchstone for a generation or three of blues harmonica players yet to begin their journey. This is solid playing, in the pocket, a live wire, a living pulse. ---------- Ted Burke tburke4@san.rr.com
mlefree, judging by your above post and a previous post were someone had to intervene, are you actually based in North Korea? Cos it's pretty much free speech and opinions round these parts I reckon... regardless if it's JR, Rusty Zinn or any other gifted and talented musician!

Holland? great number!...good stuff! Always gets em off their ass too. We do it with a ZZ Top La Grange intro. Always grabs em by the seat of their pants... I do wonder if that was Jason's regular band. They lacked a little oom-pa-pa! More please!
