I wonder ... What does a trained music teacher say to a student whose many gifts do not include tone? I absolutely believe in the magic of music for all but if you are witness or party to the beating of a dead horse how does a compassionate professional handle it?

Or is there no such thing as a dead horse?

Maybe he could say "I'm not competent enough to teach you" and hopefully he could recommend someone who is?

Also maybe a regulation of expectations is needed, either teacher, student or both.

Very rare is it to find a student with many gifts who shows up on a teacher's doorstep.

In Dr. Stephen Covey's book, 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, he quotes an un-named source. "That which we persist in doing becomes easier. Not that the nature of the thing has changed, but our ability to do has increased."

That's a great little video Iceman. Thanks for turning me on to it. I'm going to send it to a few people today.

That was great. Thanks for posting it. I am pretty much at that place where my work kinda stinks but it is reassuring to know everyone goes through that and that if I keep working on it it will eventually get better.
