I am retuning the draw plates for the new Manji Natural Minor harps, seems draw 6 and 10 are Bb on the Dm Manjis--so that puts them in first position natural minor, second position is A Phyrian. That means no bend on hole 6 (kinda like hole 5 on a standard tuned harp). We are happy to fix that, if it bothers you. 800-854-1594. The Manji is a great harp for minor blues once you fix that. I am not playing the new harps, only retuning the errant notes after removing the draw plate. That's what led to this--the harp in my bag was a C! I figure that ought to circumvent any health regulations.
Thanks! I went home and made one out of a SP20, and am learning Chicken Reel on it. Who knows where this will lead. Errata: Major third bend on hole 1, perfect 4th on holes 2 and 3, 4 is like 1, 5 has a minor third bend, and hole 6 has a major third bend. 7, 8 and 9 have enharmonics on blow and draw--not very useful unless you want to quickly repeat one of the chord tones. And the draw and blow chords are virtually the same. It's in C.
Edit: So when I get tired of this (and it has a certain charm, in its own way), I can use the bottom plate for an Am 2nd position natural minor harp and the top plate for a C harp. Always nice to have spare plates!

say i used a top plate of a c harp and then used a bottom plate off of perhaps a Bb? or a different bottom plate from another harp, certainly it has been tried before just wondering if decent results can be obtained?
It is certainly a good way to get ideas! There are always pros and cons to different turnings--and the first step is to try some! I might modify this tuning, if it survives--having enharmonics on blow and draw doesn't give you much to do!
