HOW TO SET UP THE Anti-Feedback+ WITH YOUR AMP I.) Plug your shielded harp mic cable into the Anti-Feedhack+ jack labeled "INPUT" (you should see the SLlIE LED come on brightly, as an indicator of battery condition). Using another shielded cable. plug one end into the jack labeled "OUTPUT"' (you should notice the BLUr: LED now begin to fade) and the other end to the input of your amplifier. As a starting point set the "AFB" and "US" controls midway. Please note you need not have the volume on your amp up at this point to calibrate the Anti-Feedback+ itself. 2.) To set the Anti-Feedback+ internal levels, adjust the "CALIBRATION" so the BLUE LED is only occasionally flashing when blowing heavily, as for example during an emphasized part in a solo. 3.) Now advance the volume of your amplifier until you can comfortably hear yourself and set your amp's tone controls for an acceptable balance. 4.) Continue advancing your amplifier's volume until you notice the amp itself starting to break up when blowing heavily (as in step two). The idea is to have your amplifier start to break up at the same time that the BLlIE LED on your Anti-Feedhack+ starts to tum on. At this point, the circuits in the Anti-Feedhack+, working with the circuits in your amplifier will then begin to produce waveforms similar to our HarpKing amp. Also, the "AFB" and "UB" controls on the Anti-Feedhack+ will respond in a similar fashion as the same controls on our HarpKing amplifier. 5.) Congratulations! You have now completed basic calibration and can begin to explore this new realm of dynamic tonalities with feedback under your control. This is not necessarily the way you must use your A"ti-Feedhack+, it is only a guide to have a place to start from ... Style it" s operation to your ear!
I like to error left as the farther right you dial, the more the pedal affects the signal. So left knob around 9:00 or 10:00, Middle knob: I keep calibration roughly 10:00 (mike dependent), I like very little or no blue light; right knob 10:00 or 11:00. Obviously, you should/will experiment with your personal gear and taste -- it is good to see which of the outside knobs are controlling any specific feedback -- that's how I figured out that I didn't need the left knob as high as the right.

i have been meaning to ask him about his attack. he played just down the street a week or so ago, at the corner tavern. so i had a chance to sit and have a beer and talk to him a bit. he told me he dropped his favorite crystal mic and killed it. i did not think to ask about his attack. i have only played one harpking when you play soft, the notes come out soft, we you hit it hard the notes seem to explode outward. he seems to tongue block mostly, so i would think he would use a softer attack just by nature of the beast. but he does seem to hit it hard quite often. it would be a good question to ask.
I posted something here yesterday, then edited it a couple of times and it disappeared, so I'll try again:
I have a bias for my AFB+ knobs to be toward the left. I think the more right, the more impact on sound (beyond just feedback control). I keep left know around 9:00; right knob around 11:00 -- it is good to see which knob controls the particular feedback that you are getting. I often prefer no blue light activation (calibration). Lately however, I have not been using the AFB+ as feedback has not been an issue: I usually have a break in the cable (so to speak) so I can insert the AFB+ if I need it mid-gig (hasn't happened lately). BTW, The LW Octave pedal gives a bit of feedback control if you just need a bit.
@1847; Are you near Long Beach? Are you going to the Battle Of The Blues Harps in November, Rod is playing at that...mind you you can catch him at a local bar!!! The last time I seen Rod here in the UK it cost me a small fortune lol, but worth it as I had never seen them with Henry Carvajal as well.
Nothing to do with harp but if I was having a beer with Rod I have always wondered if the Bacon Fat band was named after the old Andre Williams song Bacon Fat from the 50's as I know Rod is right into old Doo Wop and R&B as well.
Sorry for going WAYYY off topic! ----------
