My Auctioneer buddy is auctioning a "Butterfly Harmonica" this Saturday. Its obviously old or vintage. Says made in "Occupied Japan" and trade mark. The word "Butterfly" is written in cursive on the back. Just wondered if anyone had any info on it????

Made by Nippon Gakki (Yamaha) Look and plays like a Marine Band. Not sure how long after the war "occupied Japan" mark was used -10 years maybe. They show up on e-bay often at around $20.00 to $30. I have 2 of them.

Man, talk about serendipity. I remembered the first harmonica I ever owned: a Yamaha tremolo (or possibly Octave) model from the '70's. My dad bought it for me, and I gave it to a harp playing friend in college. I didn't start playing until after college, so I thought nothing of it at the time. I was thinking of the Yamaha brand tonight, and was going to start a topic here asking if anyone knew much about them.
