I was watching some of Phil wiggens playing this week, I have the flu and its a little hard to play, and was really impressed by hi style and tone. But it seems like here he hardly ever seems to get mentioned??? I don't think I'v ever seen him in a top ten list and for me he certainly should be...

I think it is spelled Wiggins, but I agree that he is a great player that doesn't get the attention he deserves. He is on the "honorable mentioned" list on this site under the "all-time harp greats". Two other players that you never hear about that are great are Grant Dermody and Jerome Godboo. Both fabulous players the seem to get very little attention. I'm sure there are a bunch of great players that don't get much attention actually. I love finding a new artist that I've never heard that has that special something.

Wiggins is a fantastic player, if you don't know his material he's got a lot out there, but definitely check out what he did with True Blues.

I have studied under both Phil Wiggins and Grant Dermody. I can attest to their individual excellence as players of acoustic blues as well as the fact that they are both very fine teachers not to mention wonderful people.

Both of these gents teach at many of the blues music camps (Augusta, Port Townsend, etc.) and Grant offers Skype lessons. Superb!

I have long enjoyed the music of Phil Wiggins that he played in his duo with John Cephas. I never fully appreciated the complexity of his playing until I attended a workshop at Hill Country Harmonica during which he broke down passages to slow speed to demonstrate what he was playing. It was mind boggling. Phil Wiggins is an exceptional player!
