Lately I'm really getting into Terry McMillan's playing and was wondering if anyone knows any good albums that he plays on? I've got the "Nashville Harmonicas" album and love it, but I'm wondering about some of his session work where he is playing more of an accompanying role. It seems more difficult than it should be in this internet age to find songs like this, but I'm having trouble; so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

He is fairly prominent on a George Jones live album that I´ve got ... somewhere. Could be from the 80´s.

If I'm not mistaken, I think he did the harp work on the Randy Travis album that had "Honkey Tonk Moon" on it too. ---------- I'm workin on it. I'm workin on it.

Check out "I've Got A Feeling" (1993). It is a Gospel CD but his playing is great.
I bought the CD a couple years ago on eBay.
You can get a taste of the CD by checking out Terry performing two of the songs from the CD live on YouTube. Search Terry McMillan and "Amazing Grace" and "This Train".

He also had an album called, "Somebody's Comin'" which is a mixture of gospel and other tunes, and even features Michael McDonald on some tracks. The project is more of a vocal CD with lots of harp in the background as well as solos. As for gospel albums, he was all over them in the 80's and 90's. That's how I learned to play accompaniment harp growing up.

Good singer too. Producers loved him. He had a real knack for coming up with just what they wanted in the studio on harmonica and knocking it out in one or two takes. Then he could stick around to record percussion or BGVs. A great utility player. I just wish the engineers hadn't garbled so much of his tasty playing with a harmonizer effect. I guess that was the Nashville harmonica sound of the 80's. I don't know if it was a production thing or a Terry McMillan thing.
