Can anyone let me know what the best way to rip audio from a youtube video is on a Mac? I want files that I can use on the anytune slowdowner, I am currently using Yosemite and Safari version 8.

I was going to try to download the video and use an app like smart convertor to try to convert the audio, but it doesn't seem to be as easy as it used to be to download youtube videos from youtube on a Mac.

I think the anytune slowdowner might rip the audio from videos automatically anyway so I probable just need an easy way to download youtube videos.

There are a few websites that will let you download videos from youtube, but I would prefer some sort of app or plug in that would let me do this as I don't trust the websites.

Thanks, Ryan

I've already answered this once, but it seems the damned filters have grabbed my post. You need to get an extension for the Safari browser called FastestTube. That allows you to download videos with one click. I've been using it for years.

Belfast harper glad you got it sorted.

For the benefit of others using the Safari. The downloader website that didjcripey mentions is a good workaround but is a little more complex to work with. You have to go to YouTube and then cut and paste the videos url into it. Then wait a few minutes for it to do it's thing. With the FatesteTube extension it works directly in the menu system of YouTube and allows you to download in various formats with one click. It also doesn't interrupt the video you're watching at the time. It's by far the easiest method I've come across of downloading video or audio content from YouTube.

For those with an android phone or tablet, you can use TubeMate app to download youtube vids. The vids can be played as audio UNCONVERTED using Maple JB player app and pitch shifted, slowed down or sped up, A-B repeat, equalized. FFmpeg media converter app can easily strip out the audio in various formats and the volume can be adjusted etc if desired.
