I thought I'd mention a new product line that I'll be introducing at SPAH, "HarpTags." An homage to military dog tags, this time handmade for "veteran" harmonica players.
I won't have a booth but I'll have a few of these in my purse. If any SPAH attendees should be interested, catch me in the halls. Otherwise you can contact me via email. I'm testing the water with a few examples that I've made from used cover plates. If there is sufficient interest, I'll order new ones, or if you have a favorite you can send it to me and I'll make your HarpTag to your exact specifications.
Right now, to keep costs down I have them in copper or brass. I could make them with silver or gold plate backing but the cost would rise accordingly. I could also have the cover plates themselves plated. The cost for brass or copper will be $50 plus the cost of the cover plate (unless you provide one or I use one of my used ones).
Whatever the case, I'd be interested in how all y'all hard-core bluesmen would feel about wearing one of these HarpTags. I get lots of compliments when I wear mine!
Thanks!
Michelle

I think they're really nice Michelle! Don't make them out of new covers! The patina and the soul imbued by the players who had used them is half the point, IMHO. When you get started you can offer a discount with every coverplate provided by the sender. You are going to give away some free tags but get a load of coverplates really quick... I bet most future customer are going to provide plates from their dear fallen comrades, though :). ---------- Pistolkatt - Pistolkatts youtube

The "classic" SP20 tag is nice - with the words Marine Band under it. Sadly, our grandchildren will only know the Progressive ;-)

I think they look great. When I see stuff that nice, I wish that independent contractors like you had an affiliate program so that I could make a small % in exchange for featuring them on the appropriate page of this website--or featuring them on their own special page for harmonica-focused accessories.
Please contact me at your leisure and tell me how we can make something like that happen.

Maybe Hohner has a stash of old SP20 covers they'd be willing to part with . . . A Hohner Germany rep will be at the convention.
And maybe other mfrs would be willing to cut you a deal as the dog tags help publicize their product. Hohner, Seydel, and Suzuki will all be there. =========== Winslow
