Looking at the bidding of one of these on Ebay, and I wondered what others thought of it as a harp amp. I think I noticed that Adam listed one as an amp he used to play. Also, if it's good for harp, how much would you pay for it? I have a '91 Bassman '59 reissue that I use for gigs and loud jams, but wouldn't mind a smaller harp amp. Thanks, Rich
I've used older Ampegs and most of them were pretty damned good for harp and always had THE best sounding reverb tanks of any amp with spring reverb in them, hands down. In the 70's, I came close to buying a brand new VT40, which was their equivalent of a 4-10 Bassman with reverb, which was a great sounding amp, but at about 110 pounds, a total back breaker but probably the most road worthy amp ever built (Ampegs were notorious for the beating they withstood) until I got a phenomenal deal for a real '65 Super Reverb that I bought in 1977 from the amp's original owner who bought it brand new in 1965. The Reverb-0-Rocket is a bad ass. ---------- Sincerely, Barbeque Bob Maglinte Boston, MA http://www.barbequebob.com CD available at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/bbmaglinte
I almost bought a mid to late 60's Reverb Rocket that had an accordian jack. I thought it sounded awesome when I plugged into that jack. Ran a bullet into a delay. I prob'ly should've bought it. They had it priced at $475. I've seen 'em go for almost twice that.
