Richard Sleigh turned me on to these.

For everyone who uses that Seydel tap & Screw kit(Me) these screws are the cat's meow. If you put a refrigerator magnet on your Philips screwdriver, they will stick and you can just line 'em up and drive 'em in.

It's Huge!!!

Where do you get "that Seydel tap & Screw kit"? Does the kit only work on Seydels?

rockin' ron sells them i think...actually work better on hohners ime...

the pliers are kind of ...ok...RR also sells a better plier...about $80
the hole in the jaw of the kit plier is supposed to fit the rivet head but i find its quite rare that it fits a seydel rivet. hohner rivets are no problem usually...i mean hohner handmade harps...a lot of the MS rivets seem to have big heads too...

the kit used to include 100 screws...i dunno if they are supplying the same screws they sell on the website but imho the screws they sell on the seydel site now are not suitable for reed replacement. they have oval heads, suitable for countersunk applications...but there are other sources of inexpensive screws...as above

If you buy the upgraded hole punch pliers ($80) from Rockin Ron and have problems with the receiver holes, I'll fix them for you.

The Seydel pliers - by my design - are not to be used on any non-Seydel harps and as such have small receiver holes.

thanks Greg... by my observation, seydel rivet heads are usually bigger than rivet heads on hohner handmades. i have used these pliers on hohner reeds since 2012 i think...i think the blue-handled pliers were a fairly recent option when i got them. i have removed 100 or more hohner rivets with them.

i dunno...maybe the seydel harps have smaller-headed rivets these days, but i just started accepting seydel harps for repairs over the last couple months and these are the ones i have to remove with a punch as the rivet heads wont fit the hole in the pliers.

maybe the seydels ive been repairing are quite old. i dunno. but those old blue handled pliers do the job on most hohner reeds

The rivet heads on MS & Lee Oskar harps seem to be a little larger than the typical rivet heads on Seydel.

At least in my limited experience with these models.

I did widen the receiver holes on later models of the blue handle pliers, but for the most part I wanted to make sure the Seydel rivet had fit perfectly inside the receiver hole so as to insure the pin hit the opposite side, accurately.

Rockin' Ron has the Seydel Tool Kits. Pretty complete, pretty good place to start. I don't replace many reeds though. Another route would be Richard's new tool and a 1.4mm tap. But, that still leaves you without the reamers, file and that nice reed tool of Seydel's. The screws I got from Seydel were flat heads and that had me pulling my hair out trying to align them and get them started with my old eyes and fat fingers.
