Hi everyone,
I was wondering if anyone here has either one of these mics. I just bought one and I've removed the base of the stand so it's more comfortable to hold. However, I'm curious if anyone has removed the handle portion of the microphone. This would require some electrical work.

Has anyone removed this portion?
Has anyone kept that portion permanently attached to the mic? Thanks!

I don't know of any harp players that don't remove the handle. It will require either opening up the mic and soldering in a cable of the desired length or fitting it out with a screw-on connector.

Isn't the SL the low impedance version? If so, you may want to consider switching out for a high impedance element or using an impedance matching transformer. Although even the low impedance element will give you pretty good crunch - just not as much output and probably some frequency loss (into a high impedance amp).

I have done this transformation for many customers - installing a screw-on connector once the mic is removed from the stand. If it is low impedance I can install an internal impedance matching transformer as well.

The screw that holds the mic to the top stand plate has been put in with some sort of thread lock and is very difficult to remove. I know how to get them out. You could easily really mess up the screwdriver slot in that screw trying to get it out and still not succeed. Better if you don't.....

Greg did a great mod for me a few years ago. Internal impedance xfmr and screw on connector, along with a volume pot in the shell. It's one of my two go-to mics. Great work!
