Two week-ends ago we had another hugely successful Harmonica Retreat Week-end here in Dunnville, Ontario at my farm with Ronnie SHellist, Carlos Del Junco and Roly PLatt. A friend of mine was driving back to Dunnville on the QEW (busy highway in southern ontario) and he was playing his harp while driving. Another guy pulls up beside hime and looks at him and starts gesturing like he's annoyed and brushing his lips vigorously with his fist. The guy then hits the brakes and drops behind him. My buddy is thinking, "Oh great. He's taking my plates down and calling the cops or something." A minute later he quickly pulls up beside him and pulls out a chromatic and starts belting out a tune. Too funny.
Not that I condone driving and playing. Earlier that day I was driving to one of our billets houses out on Lake Erie and playing a little and wondering how many other folks we're driving to our farm and brushing up on their chops. We had folks form Conneticut, Calgary, Vancouver, New York, Iowa, Ottawa to name a few places. Sure enough several of the attendees had their harps strewn out on the passenger seat.
I can't wait to organize next years. Even the 4 inches or 105mm of rain didn't dampen our spirits. What a great week-end. Thanks to all who attended!
