I got to thinking about all the locked threads of late, and the topics of political correctness, who can/should play blues, etc. etc. I took part in some of those conversations at the onset, until they began spiraling out of control and I could see we were moving from civilized debate into ideological battle.
But something stuck in my head. If you have an opinion on a topic, but you’re on a site devoted to blues harmonica, what would be the only appropriate way to toss in your two bits?
Easy . . . the way people have put forth their thoughts and feelings from time immemorial. You speak via your music. Seems we forget that from time to time.
So, I wrote the following music and lyrics this morning, and recorded it on Garage Band.
Just a few notes first:
• Nothing is looped here, but I’m playing everything • The stringed gizmo I'm playing was built by yours truly in my little backwoods garage/workshop • I’m still pretty new on harp . . . but what the hell . . . all comments are welcome • Apologies in advance for the quality/tone/timbre of my voice. I basically speak, rather than sing, and realize full well I sound somewhat akin to a gargling dinosaur
Now, let me be clear up front. I’m not doing this to be provocative. Rather, I’m trying to point out that expressing one’s self via music is a hell of a lot more fun than getting all red-faced and angry.
Thanks Tom . . . it was fun to make (though, on second listen, I think my voice might be justifiable grounds for arrest in some countries) ---------- America's foremost Demotivational Speaker.

Thanks guys . . . I'd forgotten just how much fun writing lyrics can be. Too many years spent scribbling out just about anything to make a buck (literally anything that pays) has led me to forget the joy inherent to writing just for the hellishly good time of it.
Your comments inspire me to do better (in all genres) and remind me that the fun part of any art is how it makes you feel.
