Thanks for that info,atty1chgo and Adam! This will be my very first time for this. My girlfriend gave me an early b-day present. She rocks! Any advice on must see acts there(other than the obvious big names)?
Anyone else coming to the fest? Except for Friday night, when I have tickets to see the band Rush at the United Center (12th row, ear plugs mandatory), I will be attending the fest pretty much all weekend, as my girlfriend and I are staying downtown.

As noted by Adam, I am playing on the Jackson, Mississippi stage on Friday from 1-2 pm. I will have Chalmers Davis from Little Richard's band with me on keys, as well as three Chicago players -- James Ang Anderson and Mike Bailey from the Chicago Kingsnakes on guitar and bass, and Steve Merola on drums.
Adam, I am sorry I won't be able to stick around for your set, as we have to head back to Mississippi early Saturday. But I would love to see you if you will be there before.
Also... anything jam-wise going on around town, other than the stages at the Festival itself?
Again, the Blues Doctors will be playing from noon to 5 on Friday and 11 to 4 on Saturday, more or less, right on the festival grounds. No need to stick around until 5 PM Saturday in order to hear us.
Here's Joe Filisko's live harp listing for the weekend.
Adam, I'd love to see you play on Saturday, but I'm driving in from Detroit that morning. It's also supposed to rain. Do you have any idea of what specific time you'll be playing?
Reading is fundamental! Thanks Adam... I had seen your slot on stage on Saturday but missed the other part. I will definitely do my best to come by and see you.
Sugar Blue at Rosa's on Saturday night is a must see. I'm going for sure. Some advice -
If you are planning to go, buy the tickets IN ADVANCE NOW. It will be a sell-out. Adam, Tony will probably put you on a guest list if you ask him when you get to the Fest. Everyone else, buy a ticket NOW. I barely had time to buy tickets last year for the Saturday night show because I forgot.
Tony Manguillo (the owner of Rosa's Lounge) sells tickets at his booth for that night - he pushes that night's show to visitors, and they go fast. Credit cards ONLY before the show, CASH at the door IF it is not sold out. It will be a sell-out which is strictly enforced, so don't get left outside.

If you can't get in to see Sugar Blue, the next best show in my opinion is Mud Morganfield at Reggie's, also with Rockin' Johnny's band.
Also very, very good is my next pick - Toronzo Cannon at B.L.U.E.S. on Halsted. No harp, but harpist Omar Coleman plays with him often and he might show. And it is right down the street from Kingston Mines where Carl Weathersby (former Sons Of Blues - Billy Branch guitarist and Albert King disciple) plays 3 sets that night.
Also, Billy Branch and the Sons Of Blues at Kingston Mines on Friday night, with Eddie Shaw on the other stage. (The bands alternate). Eddie Shaw is an old school bluesman who was with Howlin' Wolf for many years, and still kicks ass.
The Mines jams till after 3 a.m. - Billy has 2 sets (maybe 3, but with the acoustic set starting the night off, it is probably 2 sets) that night, so that is a good chance to hang with Billy.
You can get there after 1 a.m. and there is still lots of blues left. And Billy is generous with calling people up when he gigs at Kingston Mines as well.
