Hi all, I'd like to take this opportunity to publicly thank both Greg Heumann and Rick Davis for their contributions to our arsenal of harp playing tools. Their dedication to excellence must be acknowledged. Thanks Gents!
I recently received my BlowsMeAway microphone and it is truly a gorgeous piece of art to behold! That’s just the beginning. Picking it up and a cupping a harp into the mix is just revelatory! The light weight and small size truly makes it so easy to hold and play. One forgets the tools and concentrates on the music. Bonus! The Stealth pot allows for very subtle volume changes while playing which lets tone come through so clearly. It is made with the Heumann Element which is so responsive that I have to control and calm my breathing even more because every nuance from the reeds is picked up and heard. Simply, it never gets in the way of the music; it just delivers what you play! The mic is hooked up to my new Memphis Mini amp and it makes my Hohner Crossover harps sing a tune which I can feel and believe. My wife told me that the new additions make my playing sound a lot better and I'll believe her since one should never argue with my best fan and ardent critic. This is a lot like the Chicago sound I have heard on all of my favourite old records. I sure will work at trying to play like that someday! (Much more work is required.)
I want to say this publicly because we are a small community and when contributions like Rick's and Greg's are made, they need to be recognized. Thankyou!
Hey BN, Thanks for the compliment but even though I have one half of this rig, it was someone else playing on the video which JJ Harper posted. This was the caption on the You Tube: "Tom Albanese used his Memphis Mini amp in the studio, and the results are awesome. He is playing through a vintage Shure bullet mic with a CM element. Great playing, Tom!"
