but I just made a short clip (mostly for my non-harp playing friends) to show them my Green Bullet mic I got today.
No real setting up, just out of the box.
Appreciate any feedback and/or hints especially regarding tone. I"m only getting back into harp, but back in the day I mostly played acoustically on the street. While I HAVE cupped mics before a bit, I'm still a bit of a novice. I would love to develop a real solid, distinctive tone.

Work on that tight cup with the mic creating a chamber. You want to be able to hold the mic and harp in one hand comfortably and with control. Try gripping the mic with just your ring finger on the side of the grill and your pinky right next to it on the edge of the mic. When I cup a mic my middle finger is not gripping anything. Not the only way but very common with pro's.
Your almost there!
Dave Barrett used to have a great video about cupping on YT, not sure its still up? IIRC Greg may have done one too? You surprised me with your playing, I thought you were more of a beginner, nice job!

Danny, what is the GB plugged into? The amp/ speaker make quite a difference, so it's quite hard to tell. To my ears the tone wasn't bad, but overall the output sound had too much gain, and need a more rounded sound. Probably could do with a little more mids as well
Ah. It was my little 5w VOX busking amp. I'll have a play around with the settings. It did sound a bit better in real life; the iPhone doesn't reproduce the sound well in this instance.

Nice job Dan. Get that amp set up so you are just on the edge of distortion. Use the mic VC to swing between clean and dirty. Dude, you'll be playing out in no time. Look at some bigger amps. Just play, you'll get it...BN
