I was surprised at how good this was.

Pretty cool. I have always loved the original studio version, Steve played some tasty harp licks there too..."somebody gimme a cheeseburger!"

Nice indeed.

I would not consider this "early" Steve Miller - 73-76 was his probably the peak of the SMB. The stuff from 67-69 was "early" - and excellent, IMHO.

@ Littoral ,

but ... that must be the late great .. Norton Buffalo on the 'other' harp ..... after all , NB was Steve Miller's harp player !

from Wiki :
"Norton performed and recorded as a member of The Steve Miller Band for over 32 years."

So no surprise at all ... Steve had a Great harp mentor !

Is that an accidental 6 overblow at 1:12? Looks like when it happens, Norton looks over and shakes his head no.

It sounds as though it could be a 6OB, though it is sustained a bit long given the rhythm harp playing going on. Or maybe it is just some feedback that happens to be at that pitch...

The reason I thought it was perhaps an overblow is because he switches soon thereafter to playing blow bends in 1st position on an A harp, which are a similarly executed technique to overblowing, plus he's playing 6 blow before it happens, and then the head shake from Norton. Could be feedback, but probably not as likely in such a professional environment, and it isn't sustained for more than a second.

Regardless, this is a great harp duet and a cool video!

Steve Miller's music was original and inspiring while wearing his "Space Cowboy" mantle.

One of my favorite LSD headphone listening experiences was side 1 of "Children of the Future". It still holds up well today.

Once he went Top-40, he became too mainstream for me, although he made a ton of money doing it.

Todd, it almost sounds like the squeal I get on my Lee Oskar when I try to overblow ha ha
