I thought I'd share a player whom I am slightly embarrassed only to have bothered to look up in recent weeks.
It had suddenly dawned on me after listening to "Joe's Garage" by Frank Zappa for the umpteenth time, that the harp lick at the start is actually some rather good playing.
I discovered that the player is a guy called Craig "Twister" Steward - who contributed to several songs on the album. (Check out "Crew Slut")
It would seem that the sort of harp Craig was playing in the 70's, much like Sugar Blue and a few others, was definitely a break from the traditional "norm" and in my view is worth listening to, particularly given that a lot of people have never heard of him.
Craig was friends with Willie Dixon towards the end of his life and has a Youtube channel worth checking out:
