I use Line6 POD HD a lot for almost 3 years. I tried to use it in all possible combinations and ways: to guitar amp, to PA, splitting amp/PA, in parallel loop. And always result is the same: in general I like effects and especially their variety but I don't like how it affects my harmonica tone, both clean and dirty. I'd say it don't have enough fidelity, and I loose dynamics. It sounds muddy in low mids and high frequencies are unpleasant if you don't reduce them, but as soon as you reduce them you hardly cut through the mix. Clean tone is usable and in general it cut through the mix enough good, I tried all dirty tones: amps with cabs, amps without cabs, distrortions. Always the same: hardly cut through the mix and muddy. Feeds back too easy even using noise gate. Finally I get Boss LS-2 line selector and put POD into the loop. Using knobs I can go from parallel loop to serial loop and back and use it only for effected tones, using LoneWolf HarpAttack and HarpBreak for dirty tones. And this way I like it very much. I use rotary (along with oitch glide +12 and -12 it gives great organ sound) I do DJ-like scratches using pitch glide associated with tweak knob, auto wah using tron up, phaser, octo reverb, long delay (and it's fun to put effects like frequency shifter and tron up only on delay trails not on dry tone). The main pro is Line6 POD HD is only desktop FX with such a great functionality. Especially I like tweak knob (not presented on any other model!!!) - integrated expression controller.
Anyway if you are not worrying about feedback and playing comfor. if you don't have to cut through the mix you can make a rather good sound, e.g. for recording
