I've recently picked up the harmonica again after, well, decades. Most of it is coming back really well but for some reason, my 2 hole bend sucks, but not in the way it should. (See what I did there?)
I don't remember having trouble with it years ago - is it me, or is that one hole a common problem area?
I don't know why I'm panicking. It's not like the 2 hole bend is very important in Blues harmonica ...

2 hole bend is very important. Most probably it's you, try another harp and see how it goes.

My fault for using sarcasm. Yeah, it's definitely me. It's of course worse on the lower keys, and on any brand I use. It's just that I don't remember finding it difficult before.
Anyone else find problems with this hole? Is it normally problematic, more so than others?
Can someone direct me to some good clips about it (and/or offer any advice)?

Danny - can you describe what happens, is it shallow for instance?
The 2'' seems natural now, but I certainly remember when it wasn't. If I take play a 2'', then take away the harp and sing in that shape it's a very odd sound - not found in normal speech - well, English anyway. Something like if you were trying to sound like Mr Bean. I could easily imagine losing the knack if I didn't play for a bit.
Actually, I do find that if I don't play on the G regularly when I first pick it up the 2'' can start off a bit shallow. See my other thread about playing high keys vs low keys, where others have said that too.

closing the gaps up a little bit may help on a lower harp. Also try whistling the note you are trying to play and then use that mouth shape to play the note.

All this time I've been struggling with the traditional humpback tongue approach, when I should have been trying the (patent pending) Mr Bean technique!
Danny - perhaps you should go back to basics on that particular hole. Maybe even tape off holes 1 and 3. Could be that you're inadvertently off target, drawing at an oblique angle etc. Worth a shot I reckon.

Yup, will do that I think. It's a pain but until I fix it, I find myself avoiding the hole, which really makes my playing suffer.
