No I was not aware of that. I have to reduce some weight first to be able to use my other shirts. The black ones have bigger size. And I think it's a good idea not to show my body in public. I am not in great shape. It was 10 years ago I run my last marathon.
Hakan, you left Chuck Berry off your list (OK, not a European, but difficult to talk about Albatross without considering him). ---------- www.myspace.com/markburness
about this great instrumental....credit needs to be given to danny kirwan....he payed most of the lead....of course greenie was the man....what tone!!!
Apologies, I didn't mean to imply that there was anything silly about your list, or preferences (I wouldn't do that). I just find strong similarities between Chuck's "Deep Feeling" & "Albatross", in arrangement & feel, I guess like Deep Feeling was a ball that FM picked up, ran with & made their own?
But that's not relevant to the fine job you have done interpreting the tune, I loved the live version.
@Håkan. And no 4 on the list is, of course, Jokmokks-Jokke.
I think Peter Green has stated explicitly that the inspiration for "Albatross" was "Sleepwalk" -- and that one sits kinda nicely on a harmonica as well.
@Martin, yes, I'd readabout Sleepwalk & Albatross, but the arrangement is very different..
@Frank101, the link directly to Albatross to Floyd's Guitar Blues is pretty tenuous, but sure it could well have been an influence on Berry's Deep feeling?
I hadn't heard Sleepwalk either. Thanks to this forum (again) I learn some new nice things here. Deep Feeling has the groove. But because of Chuck Berry's limitations as a guitar player he cannot really deliver that deep feeling. That problem is solved in Sleepwalk with a very nice melody and great instrumental performance. Peter Green probably studied these songs and a bunch of other instrumentals to come up with his version of an instrumental with deep feeling.
