was wondering if anyone had come across this with so many trying to make there own harmonica case.my case builder.com they have a couple of different foam options- I asked them by email what kind of foam I can use for harmonica and this was there response
For a project such as the one described in your email, please select the polyethylene foam for your project.
This is our "go-to" foam for gun cases, equipment cases, tool cases etc.
Polyethylene ("PE") foam is the same foam used to manufacture the kid's toy: Pool Noodles.
It will not crumble like the softer foam and you will get many years of satisfactory repeated usage from it. Anyone ever used this kind of foam before for there harp case?

i have not, but i am not a fan of foam for this application. not tight-fitting foam at least. for me its not just about crumbles, its about air. i may be dreaming of course. i just feel better about having space in my case so air can move, and i can usually make a little room for an extra lead, or mic, or harp, or tube...
