There was a few recent posts about how to perform octaves and how to practice them. This is a simple tune (forget the name?)that will help you hit pretty much every blow/draw octave on the harp. Now you can practice your octave technique and sound like a circus at the same time-lol

Cute tune, but not all your splits are octaves.

Cool . . .
Yeah . . a few weeks ago (or thereabouts) I started a thread, noting how my frustration with octaves was hitting about an 8 on the Richter Scale (defined as how much your brain shakes when you are struggling with your Richter-tuned harp). Loads of folk joined the confab to help me out.
Happily, I can report that my octave splits are coming along nicely. The solution was of the mystical sort discovered in musty catacombs (not to be confused with aluminum combs . . . sorry . . . it's bad pun day).
The secret was this . . . practice like hell (I'm in a slow spell with other things, so was getting in several hours a day) until your tongue figures out what you're telling it and your lip muscles bulk up. Pay attention to good advice and do your best to implement it, even if it at first feels awkward.
Still not all the way there . . . but am a hell of a lot further along than I was. Patience isn't just a virtue . . . it's the only game in town. ---------- Marr's Guitars

That looks like a lot of fun, I must try it out for myself some day...
Just recently started to learn tongue blocking, and so far my single notes are super-sloppy. But play some (still sloppy) splits and vamping, and suddenly friends and family are amazed at this hitherto unheard of magical sound!
I guess it beats coughing up the cash for an accordion. :)
