Had to do some much needed maintenance on the little milling machine which I finally got back together. I decided to shoot a little video of the first comb to be made on it after the rebuild, which I did to test the machines setup.

Huge thank you to Todd Parrott for letting me use a couple of his songs from his new cd in the video. Thanks Todd.

WOW, Great playin there Todd. Very impressive. Do you have any CD's.

I like the vid too. Chris, is there any intrest in making LO combs? IMO, Hohner copied LO's harps when the SP20 came out.

Hey Barley,

I got out of the comb business a while back, but when I was doing it I offered LO combs. I've had so many questions regarding combs since I quit, maybe I should consider doing it again. I've got about 60 combs in the works that I made up from materials that I had left over. I hadn't intended to do many after that because there are so many guys doing it these days.

What's hard about the comb business from my standpoint is that to offer a wide selection of models and materials I can't stock them like some of the guys who are buying in bulk and having other companies machine their inventory, I just don't have that kind of reserve cash these days. So in order to offer a wide selection I have to make them on demand, which slows things down, which frustrates you guys out there who are anxious to get your stuff. And rightly so, I mean when I order something I get antsy to get it in the mail. LOL

And I just want to say that there's nothing wrong with having another company make your inventory when you don't have the means, not everyone is going to have a machine shop in their basement.

Seems like a lot, but when you consider that all that pattern work is done entirely by hand with nothing more than hand files, I think it's a fair price. I see my combs like this as more of a craft or art or even a collectible. If I continue to make any combs I'm going back more to my roots when I first started and start making combs that are collectible rather than mass produced.

That's a nice-looking comb alright. I haven't found brass combs hold any appeal for me before. Now I'm not sure. Not so sure.
