He's a helluva good player from Canada, which is where Carlos Del Junco and Bharath Rajakumar are both from. ---------- Sincerely, Barbeque Bob Maglinte Boston, MA http://www.barbequebob.com CD available at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/bbmaglinte

Both Harpdog (yes that's his legal name!) and Yukon Slim (Brandon Issac) won Maple Blues Awards over the weekend. Harpdog as co-recipient of harp player of the year. He's based here in Vancouver and I have the distinct honour of seeing lots of his gigs, hanging out with him and letting him use my rig at jams every now and then. Here's a newerish clip

If you're listing great Canadian harp players you should check out The Harpoonist & The Axe Murderer.
They offer a nice, modern take on the blues. Only harp, guitar and kick drum.

Oh gosh - I saw them as well in Kitchener - really good - told a funny story about going down to the U.S. and even tho "Axe Murderer" is just a Band Name - border guys didn't have a sense of humour about that - they spent a lot of "explaining time" at the border !! They put on a really good show. ----------

I remember meeting HarpDog Brown in Williams Lake, BC back in the early 90's. Great player, and a super nice dude. A few years later a friend of mine in Kelowna had the misfortune of having to reposess some equipment from him, and referred to him as "Hard Up Brown". Glad he's still out there givin' it!
