I'm still amazed - and disappointed - at the fact that the vast majority of British blues singers continue to use some sort of - pseudo - American accent!
It sounds plain phoney to me, and, of course, it means that they can never - vocally - be "the real deal".
They'll always be a poor copy, an impersonation, if you like, of American singers.

If a really good British blues singer were to emerge singing in a clear British regional accent, he/she would really shake things up and acquire a lot of kudos!

Here's one British singer who does perform with a British accent!

I agree with you, Nigel. One thing that is so refreshing about McLeod, and exemplified by this video, is that he is using the blues to completely express HIMSELF. He's not trying to pretend he's anything other than exactly who he is.

Thanks to this thread, which reminded me of at least one other exceptional rooftop video by McLeod, I've put him on this website's Honorable Mention list (where he should have been a long time ago) and I've also put this video on the Best Harmonica Videos page.

Rory is an extremely talented multi instrumentalist. His live shows are amazing. He played in a band called Have Mercy with Steve Baker and Henry Heggen. They had a CD which I believe is still available from Steve Baker's website. It's very good stuff and well worth a listen. Especially for the three harp horn section work and it also features some truly superb rhythm harmonica playing.

He also plays pretty decent trombone.

What's terrific is that he got the whole "authenticity" issue out of his system and played and sang as he felt it . What he does is fresh , contagious and genuine. Beautiful singing, flawless rhythm making and soaring, musical riffs graced with a tone worth coveting. Good stuff and thanks for posting.
