Hey all. I joined a few years ago but lost all my details including login etc. I'm trying to get back into my music and am looking to hook up with some people to chat to about the harp and related issues.

My name is Daniel, I'm 48 and from Auckland New Zealand. The last five years have been utter crap for me, which is all very helpful for playing the Blues I must admit. Had a huge brain tumor in 2010, the operation for which has left me dealing with other health issues ever since. My dad died two years ago, which I found hard. And my mum felt ill a little before Christmas, and the doctors said she had cancer and was expected to live a couple of months. She made her birthday but didn't last til Christmas, and that's been really hard to go through as well.

Years ago I used to go busking on the main street in town with my older brother and really enjoyed it, but that was in the 80s and I had pretty much pout the harp down and done nothing since.

I recently collected a few bits of gear to go busking with again, and gave them a very rough test on my YouTube channel.

Rusty as crap, but I'm hoping with some hours of practice I can get back into it again.

Any tips gratefully received.

I'd stop, listen to you, smile, and drop a buck or two in the hat.

Thanks guys - when I was younger I actually started playing on the street before I knew too much at all. Here in NZ we were kind of isolated from a lot of good music and there was of course no Internet back then. Since deciding to take it up again I ended up watching people like Adam, Jason, and a bunch of others who make you want to throw your harps into a bottom drawer on a bad day! I guess it's like starting for scratch with a bit of a head start for me now.

Sounds like you're already ahead of the game, man. There's a bunch of cats who huff and puff and think that's wild playing and where it's at. Seems like you are listening and working at playing better and you already play well.
