Peter Madcat Ruth is the featured instructor for HarmoniCollege 4 held April 10 & 11, 2015. The Harmonica Club (of Huntington, WV) is happy to host this event. This year a third cabin has been added for more lodging. This year you will have price options for lessons, lodging and meals of $200 or $150 or "classes only" for $50,

The event starts Friday evening with "eat, meet, and great". A jam session will last until about 11pm. Saturday morning classes start at 9am and go to 5pm. There will be three 45-minute classes in the morning and four 45-minute classes in the afternoon. Saturday night we will jam until everybody nods off.

Last year was spectacular with Todd Parrot and T J Klay and things seem to only get better each year. The setting is like a country bed and breakfast. This is one place your spouse will enjoy. You will all ways have a choice of 2 classes to take. Lessons will be taught by Peter Madcat Ruth and me, Jim Rumbaugh. Go to www.hhcwv.com or www.theharmonicaclub.com for more details.

Besides being a virtuoso harmonica player Madcat is a monster musician and a genuinely nice guy. Well worth whatever the price of admission might be!

Folks, don't overlook this great harp event. This was one of the best harmonica gatherings I've attended, and it really deserves more recognition in the harmonica community.

The setting is great, with nice, clean cabins - reminds me of an old western town. (At last year's Harmonicollege, a wedding was also happening on the property, as the setting is perfect for that kind of thing.) The food was awesome, and there were great jams happening every night out on this big ol' back porch, with several guitar players, Jim Rumbaugh on the bass, a keyboard player, etc. Jim is a great jam leader, with great repertoire of songs. We had a blast!

With the addition of Madcat this year, this will be an event worth attending for sure.

Here are a few pics from last year:

Thanks for the pics Todd. We call them cabins, but my private bedroom was at least 15'x 25' and the bath was larger than some motel rooms. The setting takes place as spring hits the hollers in WVA. Instead of walkin around in a hotel lobby on break, you can stroll thru a turn of the 20th century village. What a great time and sayin the food is "Great" is an understatement! Thanks Jim and the WVA Harmonica Club, I hope there's room at the "Inn."

I missed HarmoniCollege 1, but after reading about it after the event I drove from Illinois to Huntington, WV for the next two. I will be there again this year.

The event offers great instructors in wonderful setting, friendly people (in the Huntington harmonica club as well as the others attending the event), good food, and a warm harmonica-centric gathering. This is at a bargain price with a nice room for two nights, good food from Friday evening through Sunday morning, jams Friday and Saturday evening, and all day workshops in small groups all for $200, or less if you don't book a private room!

I am looking forward to the gathering and to Peter Ruth's classes this year. Todd and T.J. were great last year, as was Charlie Barath the year before.

I have enjoyed attending 4 SPAHs, 2 Hill Country Harmonicas, and one Harmonica Collective. All have their own vibe, and all have been eye opening, enjoyable, and instructive. I loved them all, and the lessons and experiences have improved my playing. Aside from the instruction offered at harmonica events, a large part of the draw of such events for me is being around others who are as obsessed with this strange instrument as I am. I really enjoy hearing the many different ways attendees and instructors play the instrument.

HarmoniCollege has been the most laid back and mellow event of them all, primarily due to Jim, the club members, the choice of good instructors, and the lovely, but inexpensive, setting.

Thanks for the unsolicited endorsements.

I want to add, some of those rooms have 2 beds, and one has 3 beds. If 2 or 3 people want to share a room, I will arrange a reduced price.

If you bring your spouse, it's only $20 more (for meals), and I guarantee, this will be one harp event the spouse will not complain about. :)
