I have the pleasure of competing in the upcoming Memphis IBC January 21st and 22nd. I'll be representing the Massachusetts Blues Society with Nelson & the New Breed Thing

Are any other board members competing this year?

Thank you, Tom. Thanks, Tuck! See you there.

Lots of good bands in the lineup. I'm looking forward to playing in Memphis!

So Ridge is competing, Tuck will be there. I think I'm going to drive up and get a room on Friday, hang out all day and evening. Who else is going?

Ridge, please let folks know where you'll be competing.

John Nemeth will be there and I'm looking forward to meeting him, since he'll be teaching at the June workshop.

I'll try to post info as I get it, but I hope others will check in here and let us know what you're doing. Also, if there are any informal get-togethers, please share info.

Hi Dan, I'm not going to Memphis, but if you run into my friend Ken's band Sixteen Tons, please say hi for me. Also, if you have the chance to see solo performer Rob Europe, definitely check him out... He's an awesome blues guitarist. Have fun and give us a full report on what's happening in Memphis!

From our hometown of Huntington, WV, Mojo Bones will be in the competition after winning the Pomeroy, OH event. Allan Hatten is the harp player and the best harp player our area has to offer. Here is a sample from last Wednesday's live performance at The Huntington Blues Society meeting. I may try to get Allan to do a lesson or two at HarmoniCollege.

I got a room for Friday and will be out and about in the Beale Street area from 2 PM on. (Heck, I might even bring a Mouse and get crazy on the street.)

If you'll be there, and especially if you'll be competing, please share info. I'll hope to see at least one or two forum members.

I went to Memphis in 2013 for the Beale Street Music Festival. Loved the place so much I went back later in the month! I wonder if it would be worth starting a Mecca of the Blues: Chicago vs Memphis thread?
