I was taught 'Heart Of Gold' on guitar when it was fresh. The harp was a cake walk. It got old quickly and I wrote a few songs based on the two introductory chords and one (half) that I made up. I spent a lot of time on that first chord and got everything possible out of it. Eventually I became an expert on that one chord and I used it as a measuring stick. I judged guitar players by their ability to hammer those 3 strings as I instructed.

It never stopped me from having a good time playing music. Really! But only three times, in all my years, has a guitar player listened and embraced my take. One is very well known, one is a relative and the other fella is what I would call a lunch-box musician who has music pouring out his every heartbeat (if he is not playing he is thinking or writing about it).

All three of them are occasional visitors. Inevitably music happens on most of our get togethers but it's never the plan. Nothing commercial, just pure joy.

Roughly one year ago I fell onto this site when both of my flutes became unplayable and required shop time beyond my mechanical expertise. I had no idea that harp was a science that was being discussed intelligently. I now appreciate the accumulated knowledge about what I considered a crap instrument that gave me joy and frustration in equal measure.

Don't get me wrong; I am a jerk and I fully appreciate this circle. I thank those that embrace music in general, as always. I'm pushing 70 and still kicking butt as I ignore reality.

Edit to add: Eggnog, despite its name, is a poor breakfast choice. Here is a ditty by our old friend, Frank:
