A local guitar player (now a singer songwriter in Nashville, TN) Keith Harden always has his birthday celebration at the Iron Post bar performing with and showcasing other musicians, including his sister, Kathy. Another harp player and great performer, George Faber, was in town from Minneapolis, MN, and sang and played on stage. I played one song on stage with a young solo act (Kenna Reiss, worth checking out).

I was running sound at the back of the room the rest of the night and not joining the others on stage though I had been invited to play some during the last set.

During the last set I played on some songs, but I played from the back of the room at the board so I could keep an eye on the board and adjust sound as needed. The musicians knew what was up, but some in the audience were confused by the stealth harmonica coming out of nowhere.

Here is a video of "Merry Christmas Baby", sung by Kathy Harden. Her brother Keith, on the right, is a really good guitar player, but graciously gives Paul Sabuco the guitar solo. It was a fun night, and I received compliments for my playing on several songs, and for the overall sound quality in the room that night.

I certainly plan to be at HarmoniCollege 4 unless some unforeseen circumstance prevents me. I sent in my registration fee a while ago.

I am looking forward to seeing Jim's club and the regular attendees again as well as Peter Ruth's workshop classes.

See you there!

I thought I would bump this once, too, since I posted it during the holidays. This was the same night as the solos with Kenna Mae Reiss I recently posted. Harp solo on Kathy Harden's "Merry Christmas Baby" (posted ABOVE) at 3:20.

Since I am bumping, I thought I would offer a video of harp solo excerpts from that night of George Faber, who was a local blues/rock harp hero, singer, dynamic front man in the music scene here back in the day, who relocated to the twin cities in MN. He comes back to town for the holidays. I believe he still gigs in the twin cities.
