A friend sent me this tonight. It is a rare interview with Jimmy Reed. It amazes me that he had so many big hits on the pop charts and yet there is so little out there on him other than his records. Heck, today every 1st week harp player has 5 hours of videos on youtube! I learned from guys like Jimmy and it is such a jolt to see how much the blues/harp world has changed. Today it is a science. Back then it was a mystery. I am glad I am of the mystery era because the players of today are way to technical in playing and speaking for me. I like the old guys who were a mystery because things never were explained except in a sense that excited the imagination. Walter

Richard Sleigh sent me this just today, I love the part
about not being able to tune a harp and had to get what
you can out of them.

Meaux: I know that sounds funny today but back in my early days that was the level of technical instruction. I am thankful for it because it made one discover things vs. it all blueprinted out like it is now. In my very beginning I use to pay people to hold the harp in my mouth as I played guitar and sang onstage believe it or not. Then I saw a Jimmy Reed album cover and figured how he and Dylan were doing it. Until then I figured they had a person holding the harp just as I did. To me that was fun. Walter
