I've added an important new page to the site: Getting Good on Harp: a 12-point lesson plan for success (It's called "lesson plan" on the masthead and is now the fifth page on this site.)

It's been apparent to me for a long time that I haven't really offered beginning (or intermediate) students a roadmap, one that makes clear how I see the different products I offer for sale on this website (i.e., videos and tabs) and the various other parts of this website (forum, jams forum, etc.) fitting together.

The new page addresses that lack. It also helps me understand what new materials I need to create--more lessons on first and third position, more slow blues, etc.

Anyway, feel free to take a look. There's something useful here, I think, for players of every level, even those who have no interest in purchasing videos and tabs.

Hi kudzurunner, Just a heads up, when I click on the links (for tab or whatever) in the Lesson Plan section I get a message "Your connection is not private, attackers might be trying to steal your information from [double -u double-u double-u dot tradebit dot com] for example passwords messages or credit cards".

That's truly weird, Frank. I think your computer has been hacked! Or else you've got an unusually powerful anti-bad-guy program that I've never heard of. I mean that's a brand new one. None of my customers, in the past seven years, has reported it. And I've done nothing different to create the links on this new page than I've done in the past to put links on my site.

Obviously it doesn't happen when I click the links! I just tried it now on half a dozen links.

I'd really appreciate feedback from other forum members. Please try the links! Does anybody get the warning that Frank has reported.

And Frank: is this particular error message one that you've gotten on other websites? If so, please tell me which website. I'll forward it to Ralf Schwoebel, the CEO of Tradebit, along with a link to this thread, and I'll ask him what's going on.

Edited to add: Actually, Frank, I think you're using Google Chrome and there's a problem with your settings. Take a look at this video:

Here's some more information about how to fix what's wrong with your browser:

Here's a much better video:

Phew! You had me worried for a moment there.

Doesn't happen when I click the links either. Adam I only scanned the headings so far but it looks like a sound and useful set of guidelines, nicely backed up with further resources.

It works for me. Thanks Adam. I think this page will be helpful for my development. I don't have a in-person teacher, so this type of info is great.

No issues on my browser, Apple Safari.

FABULOUS page, and long overdue. Back in the day when I first stumbled accross Kudzu's videos I thought they were awesome. My only complaint was the lack of a sort of roadmap like the one he's now put together. I never voiced a complaint because under the universal law of "beggars can't be choosers" , I realized there was no standing in asking a guy who was giving it all (or at least most of it) away to modify his method of dispensing said valuable charity. I think anbody who really wants it (play blues harp) bad enough need only consult the material Kudzu and Barrett have put out there, and put in the hard work. The only possible higher level of study would be having a personal in-person instructor, in my humble opinion.

KUDOS KUDZU!!!!!

Edited to add: I was so excited in skimming through the outline that I commented before reading all of it carefully. Under the teachers section Kudzu highlights Filisko and Shellist as teachers he could recommend. In no way did I mean to slight them in my comment above. The larger point I was trying to make was that there should be no excuse for anyone who really wants it. The info is out there in a very accessible way, even if you can't afford one-on one instruction.

Hi KR, yeah it must be a google chrome thing, I just tried using firefox & the links worked fine. (I very rarely see that message even on chrome though, maybe half a dozen times this year (otherwise I wouldn't keep on using chrome!)). Glad all's well, & this looks like a very useful new feature.

Correction: I am getting a different version of the same message Frank 101 was getting when I click on links. I am using Safari on a MacBook Pro. The message basically says that tradebit's certificate can't be verified and that therefore the site may be someone impersonating tradebit to steal my information (I'm paraphrasing here). I then have the option of proceeding to the site anyway.

Sorry for my earlier post saying I had no issues (I won't even get into what caused me to have that brain fart).

I think it's a great addition to the site. I was starting to lose my way forward and your summary has made this so much easier.
Using my iPad I've already downloaded a PDF document and a video without any difficulties.

Thanks for adding this new page, Adam. As I was beginning my harmonica studies (about 2 years ago), a clear roadmap was the thing I really could've used. I've since been working with Dave Barrett, and he has a very clear path towards mastery (his "Levels of Achievement") and I see how useful this sort of guidance can be. Your schedule will still be useful for me, as I can see what videos will address my current playing weaknesses.

And, not to hijack the thread, but I also have experienced the problem Frank mentions. Not only with Google Chrome, but Internet Explorer tells me "There is a problem with this website's security certificate." This is when I follow a link from modernbluesharmonica to tradebit.

Works perfectly fine on my end. Microsoft computer either with Google Chrome or Firefox and with a Macbook with Safari.

Thanks for that one, thats exactly what the page was missing, as it now has a more oriented direction!

Hey everybody, after Mirco seconded Frank 101's complaint, but with an additional browser stirred into the mix, I emailed the head of Tradebit and asked him to look into the problem.

Turns out there's something called an expired intermediate certificate that was causing trouble:

https://blog.digicert.com/expired-intermediate-certificate/

There isn't an actual security problem, in other words, but there WAS something "real" being flagged by Chrome and IE, and it should be gone now, or soon. Those who've had problems: please try again. Thanks
