Any thoughts would be appreciated, I'm considering four new 10"s. My preference in tone is smooth, punch and plenty of bottom end. Crunch under pressure is important too. I like to do horn lines, B3 parts, accordion/zydeco and BW style TB. The amp circuit handles these (unreasonable) demands nicely.
I have been in touch with a few pros on this already and have this list so far. I am leaning on a combination like 2 of each. $ and weight matter but not a deal breaker.

My choice would be 2 eminence blue alnico and 2 Jensen Jet Tornado.
I have not tried Fane or Kendrick. Alpha and Lil' buddy is too dark for me.

Hey Arne,
may I ask why not 2 Weber alnicos or p10r's? Because the first will be overpowered by the Jensen and the latter is too bright?

Some confluence of direction here, including FeeWilly. I pulled the trigger on 2 Weber 10F125-O, AlNiCo. Thievin' Heathen, the 15% off today got me. Thanks. I didn't realize you'd also suggested the 2 Veterans as well and I did that too :) Painful f-ing decisions. I was really pleased to find this link AFTER I'd already bought the Webers: http://fenderguru.com/how-to-select-speakers It suggested the same combination (although guitar) under Mixing different 10" speakers. Otherwise, the amp was working well (3 speakers) but was due for basic maintenance -original paper caps still there. I do have THE right person helping me but I'll spare his name here -he doesn't do bench work these days. I will do a worthy review video.

Littoral: Nice to find that link. It's confirm my thoughts on speakers. IMO many harp players tending to use to dark speakers. You need some treble to be heard and to give the sound life and deep. Freewilly: I use that combination i suggest, and i like it.

The very first year of those tan Concerts actually came stock with a set Jensen P10Q's (for about the frist 6-8 months) and then afterwards they used C10Q's. When I saw Rod Piazza in 1992, he was using a pair of them in series. ---------- Sincerely, Barbeque Bob Maglinte Boston, MA http://www.barbequebob.com CD available at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/bbmaglinte

Yikes!! It is very humbling to have someone follow my suggestion. I can say I have been very pleased with the (~7) Weber speakers I have own. When I get it right, they bring compliments on tone. That Black Friday sale almost reeled me in for one of those 5F2H amp kits. It would have made it $442 for a hand wired, harp specific amp. I almost had it rationalized with thoughts of selling off other amps, but that's just self delusion. In a rare moment of restraint, I went to a party and stayed until the sale expired.
Littoral, it sounds like you arrived at the WGS speaker choice independently. I keep meaning to try them. Please let us know what you think of them.
