Three Part Inteview from Spanish blues website BluesVibe.com.

This may or may not generate some controversy. I hope not as that was not the intention. Some of the remarks are somewhat dated as certain things changed between the time the interview was done and the publishing of the piece.

Besides the usual pieces regarding performers and records BluesVibe.com takes an academic perspective of cultural and racial dynamics within the blues genre and it's practice.

Part One - Mostly deals with Matthew Robinson and the new record, Work That Jelly! as well as the dynamics of an integrated band.

Part Two - Blues Sounds in the Live Music Capitol of the World.

Part Three - Cultural and Racial Dialogues within the Blues appropriation.

I'm not surprised that blues & jazz flourish in Europe. At least up until the mid-70s (when I left NY) there was an exodus of talent to countries which were more accepting of the musicians and their music. I was close to one family where the head of household led a jazz quartet. His decision to tour abroad was economic. More 'running to' than 'running from'.
