OK, I just got this thing, (1996 vintage) put in a a 12AU7 and am very impressed. Anybody else have any thoughts? The bass is HUGE. Treble, mids and bass controls work great to modulate tone. Very gritty and thick all the way down to just plain richer sounding than the straight amp. I tried a Butler TubeDriver a while back and that sucker was uncontrollable for harp. Just an FYI.

Hi GeorgiaBlues,

I have used this pedal for about twenty years. Mainly I use it to get a dirty sound out of my Bassman RI, because we never play loud enough for me to crank the Bassman up to where it sounds awesome by itself (which is up past 7 on the volume).

Mine still has the original 12ax7 tube in it. I set the volume knob pretty low and you don't need to turn the tone knob up very high. I find that I put the bass at about 7 or 8 and I turn the mids up higher, and I try to turn the treble up as high as I can without starting to feed back.

I have found that when I use the Blue Tube, my rig is quite resistant to feedback. So it always becomes my "go-to" setup... because I know I can get decent amplified tone without feedback, and I don't play out enough to really learn how to use all the other crap I have accumulated.

I'm pretty sure these are not made anymore. Good luck with it, I have found it to be a really useful piece of gear.
