Wow!! HUGE Hendrix fan here (my first album, in my early teens, The Experience Smash Hits album), and obviuosly a blues harp fan. I declined to offer a suggestion because as you mentioned, Kudzu, I realized every song I was thinking of was clearly a fave of mine and not necessarily one that would work well in a dual harp, OMB + rythym guitar arrangment. Frankly I still don't have a suggestion. I'm not sure there is one that will work. I'm a firm believer that not every song can be harp dominant and still work, but hey that's just my personal bias.
Good luck with it.
I'm excited to hear what the effort produces though.
PS: agree with walterharps overall take on it, also some further direction from the label as to what their vision for the project is (as cliched as that sounds) might be helpful

Who Knows – Band of Gypsies
Huge riff. Call and response vocals for you and Mooncat to sing together. ---------- http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#!/pages/Bourbon-Bleach/161722307208585 ---------- http://www.facebook.com/home.php?ref=home#!/pages/Bourbon-Bleach/161722307208585

Well, I'll put my 2 cents in. I think this is a project for Moon Cat alone. His style is defiantly more psychedelic. Adam may not be willing to invest the time required to get a grip on the free flowing style that Hendrix developed. Completely understandable considering all the irons Adam has in the fire.
I feel that more obscure, original, material written by Hendrix would be the way to go. This is a documentary so Jimi's fans will be the main body of interest. These folks know Jimi's works and will appreciate the authenticity of the harmonica take of the chosen song. Cool project...BN

Hendrix is so bad ass...He has always been one of my favorites, and while I haven't ripped off any of his licks, he certainly has influenced me. I played Watchtower, Little Wing, Hey Joe and Red House live many many times.
I agree that if you are going straight homage, that Jason with a rock band would be pretty sweet, however, with woodshedding, I think the OMB with two harps would be very interesting.
What I'd like to hear is a hill country version of a Hendrix tune. Something re-interpreted. I think something with Adam amped and Jason playing acoustically would be ubber cool.
I think Voodoo Chile (Slight Return) would work in that it is very riff driven, and would sound good bluesed up.
I could totally hear Jason playing chords in lieu of the Wah to start the song, then Adam's foot drum coming in and Adam's electric harp coming in to start the full song.
Bonus points if one of the harps plays the melody with the vocal to start each phrase like Jimi does with guitar. I think the chord progression would totally work with Adam's OMB approach.
When the guitar solos, one of the harps could play the bass line, which isn't really complex, etc.

@walterharp mentioned feedback - a very Hendrix thing. I've seen a couple harp videos with feedback but I don't recall getting a Hendrix vibe from them. If not possible during recording maybe it could be engineered afterward. It is certainly one of his most recognizable trademark elements.
I wonder how amenable a UK label would be to "The Star Spangled Banner".

Here's the Hendrix of the harp using some feedback a la Mr. Hendrix:
Star Spangled Banner
The feedback effect like that is something I don't know how to replicate, but sure wish I could do it!
Here is another version that allows me to embed the video...

My two cents - Reading everything here it sounds like a. Adam is a bit uncomfortable with the project but wants to do it, b. a bluesy song by Jimi is best. Adam, you mentioned Hear My Train A'Comin' near the beginning as an obvious choice. Why not stick with that? It will be an easy jam tune, fill the expectations of being an original Hendrix song, being easily recognized by the general public and a comfortable choice that lends itself to improv. Seems logical...

Harp player on "My Friend" was Paul Caruso. He died in 2013. Lead quite a life.
