I recently started moving over to Manji's from Lee Oskar as my goto harpidas and now have 4 (A, C, D, G) and was very interested to hear about the new low tunings.
I finally picked up one of these today and wow! I only got one as a starter, a low C for ~4100 yen.
It is VERY responsive to pressure which is great for awareness training. One of the areas I'm really working on at the moment is to play with a lighter touch and I think these new low tenor tunings are great for that. The low chords are also deep and resonant with a nice tail to them.
Big thumbs up.
Anybody else playing with them?

Paul--do you live in Japan? How much is 4100 yen in US currency? Other folks--they aren't in the US yet, but should be soon. Ron will have them . . . but supplies are limited!

Gnarly, Yes, in Tokyo *for now*
4100 yen is about $37
Japan domestic price is always about 1/2 US afaik.
Don't fret about it, you should see the price of import instruments and the mark up they whack on them here;-) Ouch!
Being able to get Manji's at a decent price is one of the few benefits in Japan now, the way the prices of everything else are going through the roof with the ijits in charge atm.

Being able to buy a low tuned Manji for less than $40 today makes me want to move to Japan yesterday.
Try the D and Eb, I bet you will like those too.

Batten down the hatches Paul, there's a nasty looking cyclone heading your way. I hope it doesn't interrupt Manji production.

@Thieven Yeah, that one looks massive. I think it's projected to peak before it hits Tokyo. Suzuki factory is in Hamamatsu-shi, Shizuoka before Tokyo so it may actually cop a bit.

low harps are interesting and fun. I think it's time for me to upgrade my Low Big Rivers to something more serious. It would be great if someone (who is not en endorser) would conduct a comparison test, or a "shoot out" among the Thunderbird, Low Manji, and Low 1847.
@Komuso - those Tokoyo prices look interesting - I will have to go harp shopping on my next business trip to Japan. Is there a store you can recommend in Tokoyo?

A440, The low tuned Seydel Session Steels deserve a look as well. I have a Low D harp I like a lot.

@rainman indeed, i have a Low F Session Steel, which is a very nice instrument. But in a comparison with the T-bird and Manji, the similarly priced/positioned Seydel model would be the 1847.

@A440 taniguchi-gakki is the go to harp store. Most guitar shops sell harps but the selection is small compared to tg
taniguchi-gakki directions follow these but go to 4th floor which is harp/accordion shop.
or drop me a line and maybe we can meet up ---------- Paul Cohen aka Komuso Tokugawa HarpNinja - Your harmonica Mojo Dojo Bringing the Boogie to the Bitstream

Komuso - nice to hear that you like your Manji Low C. Its a really good instrument.
Taniguchi-Gakki harmonica/accordion store in Tokyo is great, I had a nice time there some years ago.
