She played some harp in one of the finales (there were a couple of venues) of the anniversary show I saw last night; Not Fade Away; she even got a short solo with all those really good musicians who could have gotten one; she was a co-host. Did anybody else see the show? As a harp player, I felt bad for us; it was pretty bad; it was almost like: "well, it's just a harmonica and so anybody can just add that weird sound to a song."
Anybody else see it? Felt differently?

shes not the only musician that fails at playing harp....jim Morrison sometimes attempted but was horrible...Robert plant and mick jagger are only passable

Yeah, and Kris Kristofferson came out with a harp in a rack and didn't use it (at least on his on-air bit with Cheryl Crow - Bobby McGee) - but I suppose I should be relieved.

Did not sound good. But "Mickey" Raphael did some nice work with the keyboard on Texas Flood.

I liked the deep groove of Gary Clark, Jr. (though not harp).

I can't imagine that they let Sheryl Crow get away that. A good number of those musicians have played with excellent harp players and had to be cringing at the squalls she emitted. They should have turned Mickey loose, but he was relegated to a few fills throughout the night. Me too wanted to hear what Kris K would offer up on "Me and Bobby McGee". I play that tune with a little trio and wanted to hear his take.

Probably. He does play harmonica.

Also he DID play guitar on the Brook Benton version and lilely played the harmonica on this version too. He mentioned this on a summer 2014 interview broadcast on last weeks Saturday Night Blues (CBC).

Mourn not for the lost prestige of the overall harmonica community and certainly not for Mickey, who's harmonica stock can only increase, but mourn for poor Cheryl who apparently will never realize the genius of Joseph Richter. And poor Joe, who probably warbles in his grave every time she plays.

I love her hit song (All I Wanna Do) and I live with my imaginary image of her strumming and singing that song in a bar on Santa Monica Blvd. I am not going to seek out a bad performance by her.

The last time I sought the beautiful voice behind a song I found it at a concert in Oakland. I imagined nude images while I spooned my pillow and drifted off to sleep. I about puked when I saw Air Supply and saw that the lead vocal was a short fella. I threw the pillow away and I've tossed and turned since then.
