Gary Smith - Blues for Mr. P.
Here's one of my favorite songs by Gary Smith. It's from the vinyl album "Blue Bay" put out by Messaround Records in 1976. I bought it when it came out.
What do I like about it? Lots. It's got horns (sax and trombone, nice combination), it's jazzy, it's arranged and rehearsed. It features a young Junior Watson cutting loose with some inventive, funky guitar.
I also like the fact that Gary's harp doesn't come in until halfway through the song, but when it does, you're treated to a tasty, jazzy harp solo. Have a listen, and enjoy.
Cheers,
wolf k.
p.s. This came from my vinyl record. You can do wonders with a turntable plugged into your computer and a sound editor to take out the scratches.

This is the type of blues that Dennis Gruenling is so fond of - horn driven and the same "head" played over all the changes.
Nice tune. ---------- The Iceman

Cool version, i have one of Gary's CDs "Blues For Mr. B" that features the song, dedicated to sax man, the late Dave Baker
