Since I´m in the process of composing e few ringtones I got to thinking: Do you want "advanced" stuff as a ringtone? (Lotsa notes etc)
Or should it be something basic, like a simple, generic blues riff?
Or should you nick a few notes from a well-known melody?

You who have done this, what has held up the best over time? I see advantages/disadvantages with all three approaches. (I´m giving them away, otherwise I´d try them out for myself.)

I vote for the middle option

I would want to distinguish it from a song so I know it's a phone call and not just music: simple is better.

It is also quite distracting if someone's phone suddenly starts blaring a song.

Thanks Bronze, after experimenting with quite a lot of "too many notes" stuff, I went back to basic. Works better.
