Since this topic has no negative connotation you may name the musician but you have to have met them outside the context of music. In other words, a talent with whom you shared conversation about normal life. Not necessarily the rising price of tomatoes, and maybe the drudgery of life on the road, but no gushing unless other people were doing it.

Perhaps not strictly outside the context of music in that I met him because of a radio interview for which I had written the questions. He was doing a promotional tour at the time just performing for TV and doing radio and press interviews. There are some neat details to the story but suffice to say Tom Jones is one of the nicest and most down to earth guys I've ever met. It was an uninterrupted hour long conversation. Just the two of us like a couple of guys down the pub. We had mutual friends from back in his early days in Wales. We talked about those guys, a record he recorded that never got released and why, and rugby, particularly when Wales beat arch enemy England a couple of years before. Tom was there and sang the Welsh national anthem. Tom Jones is a top guy and one of the greatest male voices ever.

I promoted a concert for a radio station and Earl was on the bill- ended late- he missed his ride and stayed at my place - a real talent and sweet dude
janis Joplin-- I was about 16 and a friend of my mom who was the bouncer snuck me into the show-I sat in the wings of the stage and handed her her southern Comfort bottle and she gave me a sip--what a cool chick to be so nice to a little kid. 45 years later - I still miss her voice when I have a little southen Comfort
Michael Doucet- terrific humble guy- had a long conversation about just sticking with the music
